Heather Comer
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
EMDR Trained Trauma Therapist
Asking for help is a brave step. I am here to offer help through a compassionate and trauma-informed approach, allowing a safe place to be vulnerable.
How Are You?
Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, or a general sense that you have lost your sense of self? Does it seem to take all your energy just to manage your day-to-day tasks? Are you feeling as though no matter how much you do, it is never enough, and cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel?
You are not alone.
Now, more than ever, many people are feeling the toll of daily stressors and a loss of connection in our (seemingly disconnected) world. But there is hope, and you can feel better and thrive.
How I Can Help
As a clinician, it is my passion to utilize my expertise and compassion to assist people in identifying their stressors, accessing their strengths, and to utilize techniques to manage today’s stress and heal from traumas in the past.
What is Therapy Like?
The therapeutic relationship is unique to everyone, and finding the right type of therapy is one’s individual preference and journey. Hearing your story, and walking alongside you as you seek comfort from difficult feelings and events is an honor that I do not take lightly.
As your clinician, it is my hope that you feel safe, supported, and validated throughout our time together.
I am a trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist who specializes in the treatment of trauma. Through my trainings and personal experiences, I have learned that our bodies and brains are magnificent at alerting us to danger as well as helping us to process and heal from things that have happened to us.
You are not imagining the things you feel, and there are reasons that you react to things the way you do. I am here to assist you in making sense of it, and to process it so you can move past it, and feel whole.
In addition to EMDR, I utilize a person-centered approach to help you process thoughts and emotions while incorporating effective therapeutic techniques.
I look forward to meeting you.
